Meet Navi: the new face of TaxNav, helping simplify Making Tax Digital for Income Tax

At TaxNav, our goal has always been simple: to make Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD IT) straightforward and accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re introducing Navi – a new member of the TaxNav software team who is here to help.

From 6 April 2026, Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD IT)  will mean many self-employed people and landlords earning over £50,000 will need to keep digital records and send quarterly year-to-date updates to HMRC along with a final annual return.

While the rules themselves aren’t complicated, the change in process can feel daunting for those used to completing a Self-Assessment return once a year.

At TaxNav, our goal has always been simple: to make Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD IT) straightforward and accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re introducing Navi – a new member of the TaxNav software team.

A friendly guide through MTD IT

Navi is a small green monster with a big job. Friendly, approachable, and reassuring, Navi embodies the spirit of TaxNav: helping people navigate tax reporting without stress, confusion, or unnecessary complexity.

The idea is simple. MTD IT doesn’t need to feel scary. With the right tools and guidance, it can become just another straightforward part of running a business or managing property income.

Through our videos, guides, website, and social media, you’ll start seeing Navi explain what MTD IT is and how TaxNav makes it easier.

Making MTD IT simple

Over the past year, TaxNav has been supporting users in the HMRC MTD IT pilot. We’re HMRC-recognised software, and the pilot has given us real-world experience of how the new system works in practice.

Our focus remains on making MTD IT compliance simple, affordable, and easy to understand for self-employed people, those with property income, and the accountants who support them.

And now, Navi is here to help guide the way.

If your gross income from self-employment and property exceeds £50,000, the first step is to understand how MTD IT will affect you and choose software that works for your situation.

TaxNav was designed specifically for this transition, helping individuals and accountants move smoothly to MTD IT’s requirements.

And with Navi on hand, we’ll continue making the journey clearer, calmer and a lot less intimidating.
